How to copy/paste files between |
Turn on your Mac computer. For this example I'm going to install the "UnZip" utility found at http://www.philc.net/unzip.htm Once this utility is installed it will make future ZIP installations VERY MUCH EASIER . Start by opening the Finder application. On my Mini Mac I can do this by clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock. If the Dock is not visible bring your mouse to the bottom of the screen and it should pop up. If its not there try the sides or top of the screen. With Finder running select File > New Finder Window. Then arrange your screen as shown below. |

In the top Finder window I have selected my Poser 7 directory then expanded the subdirectories so that I can see Poser 7 > Runtime > Python > poserScripts > PhilC If you do not have a PhilC folder:-
|
| To create a new folder on a Mac:- Open Finder. Select the directory that you wish to create a new folder in. Go to the Finder "File" menu and select "New Folder" This will create a new folder with the default name "new folder". Whilst the text is still editable type in the required name for the folder. If you find that the folder name is not editable click on the folder name twice slowly and it will become editable again. An alternative way to rename the folder is to use the Finder File > Get Info menu. This will bring up an information panel in which the folder name may be edited. Other useful information:- Shift+Command+N will create a new folder in the currently selected folder Command + I will bring up the information panel. |
In the lower Finder window I have a temporary directory containing the zip file that I wish to install. In my example I am using a small flash drive, it could just as easily be the directory in which you downloaded the ZIP. If I double click on the ZIP file I am able to view all the directories and files contained in the ZIP. With the zip file selected other alternatives are:-
If I were to copy the Runtime directory from the ZIP into the Poser 7 directory shown in the upper Finder window it would REPLACE the existing Runtime directory and files which is not what we want to do. We need to navigate down through the ZIP directories until we come across the lowest directory that does not occur in the installed Poser 7 directory and then copy that over. |

1) In the lower Finder window navigate to the "unzip" folder indicated. Right mouse click the folder icon and select "copy" from the menu that pops up. If your mouse does not have a right button then use the Finder Edit > Copy menu. 2) In the upper Finder window navigate to the directory Poser 7:Runtime:Python:poserScripts:PhilC . Right click the PhilC directory icon and select "paste" from the menu that pops up. If you do not have a right mouse button use the Finder Edit > Paste menu. This will pace the unzip directory and its files within the PhilC directory. 3) There is one more file to copy over from the zip into the Poser 7 installation. In the lower Finder window select the ScriptsMenu directory. For clarity I'll show a new screen grab below. |

In the lower Finder window, the one that is displaying the files contained in the ZIP expand the folders so that you can see Runtime:Python:poserScripts:ScriptsMenu:PhilC:P7_start_unzip.py Right mouse click the P7_start_unzip.py file icon and select "copy" from the menu that pops up. If you do not have a right mouse button use the Finder Edit > Copy menu. Now navigate in the upper Finder window to show the directory Poser 7:Runtime:Python:poserScripts:ScriptsMenu:PhilC. Right click the PhilC directory icon and select "paste" from the pop up menu that appears. If you do not have a right mouse button then use the Finder Edit > Paste menu. This will place the file PhilC:P7_start_unzip.py in the directory Poser 7:Runtime:Python:poserScripts:ScriptsMenu:PhilC and thus complete the installation.
