Introduction.
Puppet Master accurately transfers poses created for one Poser character to
another. With it, you can transfer poses developed for one generation of figures,
such as Posette and Dork, to entirely different figures, such as DAZ Vicky 3.
The reason a pose created for one figure will not always work with another is
because their zero poses and joint parameters are different. This program takes
that difference into account when transferring the pose, to obtain a more accurate
conversion than you can get with Poser alone.
Method.
1) Use the Poser menu Window\Python Scripts to open the Python
Scripts window. (You do not need to have any knowledge of Python scripting to
be able to use this plug in.)
2) Go to File\Run Python Script and browse to Runtime\Python\poserScripts\PhilC\Puppet
Master\Biped\Puppet Master Biped Menu.py This will set the Puppet Master buttons.
3) Load the two desired figures into a blank Poser scene. Select the one that
has the poses you wish to transfer, and click on the. 'Set Source Figure' button.
Next select the other figure, and click on the 'Set Target Figure.' button.
Then apply the pose you wish to the source figure, and click 'Copy Pose', or
if you have a multi-frame animation, 'Copy Pose All Frames'. Your pose will
be transferred to the target figure.
A comprehensive set of additional tools and utilities are also included. Puppet Master currently supports 171 figures. Tools are included to set up new ones.
Poses.
Garbage in, garbage out. If your existing
pose over stretches a joint then using Puppet Master to copy it to another figure
will probably make it worse. Check your source figure, possibly turn on "Use
Limits" to see if any body part has been over rotated. A Repose button
has been included as an aid in these situations. See the included documentation
for details.
Compatibility
Suitable for Poser Pro Pack, Poser 5 and Poser 6 on both the Windows and Mac
platforms.

Because the zero pose and jointing of this figure varies considerably from the majority of other Poser figures some use of the Puppet Master's "Repose" button will be required. A number of poses work fine, however a number of other poses do not and will require manual adjustment. To enable you to make your own judgment you are invited to download and test these sample poses. They were created for the Poser 4 male figure then copied to Apollo using the Puppet Master. They were saved before any adjustments were made. Making an adjustment is straight forward and tools are provided in the plug in to facilitate this. |
