FAQ's

My pant legs intersect and no template will separate them. What do I do?

When using the OBJ2CR2 file converter on pants the left and right legs must be separate. If they overlap then the template will not assign the mesh into the correct groups. To address this issue all that is needed it to take a quick trip to the Cloth Room.

Set up a short simulation.

  • Frame 1:- figure in zero pose
  • Frame 30:- legs slightly apart

In the Simulations setting ensure that Cloth self-collision is turned OFF. If this is left on the intersecting pant legs will not separate.

At the conclusion of the simulation, export out the pants as an OBJ file. Delete the pants from the scene.

Now reimport the saved pants OBJ file. Do not select any of the import option boxes.

This time set up the simulation the other way round.

  • Frame 1:- legs slightly apart
  • Frame 30:- figure in zero pose

In the Simulations setting ensure that Cloth self-collision is turned ON. This will prevent the pant legs intersecting again. I also suggest lowering the Collision Offset and Collision Depth settings. This will allow the cloth to get closer to other objects without actually colliding. This is particularly important at the top of the pant legs.

At the final frame export out the pants as an OBJ file.
